Lightbulb exchange
This isn’t happening in Weaverville, but it’s something both the environment and our pocketbooks can benefit from:
Ribbon Nutrition, Pink Penguin Press and Carbonfund.org are hosting a Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb exchange from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Greenlife Grocery. Guests can bring in an incandescent bulb and trade it in for a CFL from noon to 5 p.m. July 28.
What‘s so great about CFLs? They use 75 percent to 80 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs. For every CFL used, you are helping to prevent about 600 pounds of harmful emissions from entering the environment. If every American home replaced one bulb with a CFL bulb, the pollution reduction would be equal to taking nearly one million cars off the road.
Greenlife Grocery is at 70 Merrimon Avenue in Asheville. For more information, call the store at 254-5440.
