Blue Ridge Relay runs through Reems Creek on Sept. 8

Published August 28th, 2007

Blue Ridge RelayOn September 8, be prepared to see lots of runners on Reems Creek and Ox Creek Roads when the third annual Blue Ridge Relay comes to town. The 208-Mile team relay, one of the longest running relay races in the United States, begins at Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia on September 7 and finishes in Asheville September 8. This year 48 teams have signed up for the race, and I’m told we can expect them in our area from about 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Please drive carefully on Reems Creek and Ox Creek Roads during that time, and be sure to show them some support. 208 miles is a long way to run, and these men and women are doing it in a two-day period with some pretty tough hills thrown in the mix.

For more information about the race, visit their website, www.blueridgerelay.com.
