Help Buncombe County Help Our Trooops
Buncombe County employees will be collecting items that will be sent to our troops in Iraq for Christmas. They are inviting the community to join them and make it “Christmas in September” by donating any of the items listed below between September 10 - 21.
Items can be dropped off at any area library, including the Weaverville Library, during business hours. Items can also be dropped off at the County Courthouse Commissioners Office (2nd floor, Room 206) or in the lobby at Election Services (189 College Street, Asheville).
These items will be boxed and shipped with the help of Operation Care Package and Yellow Freight Lines and will be delivered to our troops in time for Christmas.
The following items are acceptable and much needed by our troops. They are the ONLY items that will be accepted:

- Batteries
- Jerky/Slim Jims
- Pre-sweetened powdered Kool-aid
- Gatorade
- Hot chocolate
- Hot cider packets
- Canned Fruit, Dried Fruit, Fruit Snacks
- Canned Hearty Soup, Ravioli and/or Stew
- Cup A Soup, Top Ramen Noodles
- Trail Mix, Nuts, Sunflower Seeds
- Pre-Packaged Cookies
- Instant Oatmeal, Boxed Cereal
- Easy Mac & Cheese
- Microwave Popcorn
- Canned Tuna, Chicken
- Peanut Butter / Jelly (No Glass Please)
- Small boxes of crackers
- Small Personal or Desk Fans
