The Register of Deeds, Otto W. DeBruhl, gives a complimentary Birth Certificate copy to any native Buncombe County resident when they turn 62 years of age.  If you qualify, you can request your copy at the Register of Deeds, located in the Buncombe County Courthouse in downtown Asheville.  You can also request a copy in writing.  When writing in, include your name, date of birth, parents’ names, and your signature.  Written requests should be mailed to Register of Deeds, 60 Court Plaza, Asheville, NC  28801.
