About ABCCM
Asheville Buncombe Christian Community Ministry is a non-profit organization addressing poverty, hunger, homelessness and access to health care for the under-served in Buncombe County. Begun as a small collaboration of churches in 1969, ABCCM has played a significant role in meeting emergency assistance needs for families.

We accomplish this through four ministry areas:

  • Crisis Ministry (4 locations) providing counseling, food, clothing, furniture and household items and financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, heat, prescriptions and transportation.
  • Jail Ministry operating a comprehensive program in the local jail including visitation, education, library services, counseling, and coordination of religious activities.
  • Shelter Ministry with two shelters. Our Men’s facility offers 60 beds total with 48 designated for veterans and 12 for emergency beds. Our Women & Children’s facility provides shelter for 27 single women and 7 mothers and their children with a total census of 43.
  • Medical Ministry which provides acute care services for up to 35 patients per session, access to prescriptions and medical supplies, appropriate referral and follow-up to the primary care network and preventative education. We have a dental clinic with six sessions a week-two for extractions, two for hygiene, two for fillings.
  • We also have a Donations Center and Thrift Store.
