Vote for “The McCain” or “The Obama” at Blue Mountain Pizza
Beginning Tuesday, July 22, Blue Mountain Pizza (55 North Main Street) is offering a different way to vote for your Presidential candidate of choice. They’ve got two new gourmet pizzas, one for Republican candidate John McCain, and the other for Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Blue Mountain will be tracking the sale of each pizza from now until November 4, and will make a charitable donation based on the winner. Here’s the details:
Eager to register your vote for McCain or Obama but can’t wait until the November election?
Blue Mountain Pizza recently rolled out two new gourmet pizzas, one for each candidate, and will be tracking the sales of each right up to November 4th before declaring a winner.
Managers Rose MacCauley and Mike Vanhoose have spent the last several weeks fine tuning new pizzas reflecting the candidate’s background. McCain will be a southwest influenced pie (beef, green peppers, onion, black beans, diced tomato, jalapeno and banana peppers) with Obama being a pizza with pineapple and other Hawaiian influences reflecting his early childhood roots (Crushed black pepper and parmesan crust BBQ base, marinated pork, pineapple, red onion, smoked Gouda and jalapeno peppers).
Whichever candidates’ pizza has received the most orders will be declared the winner and will receive a generous donation to either the USO if McCain wins or the local MANNA Food Bank if Obama takes Blue Mountain’s theoretical Oath of Office. Either way for the next few months the customers of this local landmark will be having some fun challenging each others support of their political favorite.
Owner Matt Danford says the orders will be tracked daily and will be posted on a chalk board in the dining room for all to track. Over the last few months Danford has thought of different ways to use the election as a fun way to get his customers to talk about the candidates without alienating those of an opposing viewpoint. Nothing felt right until he stumbled upon the idea of using the election as a means to further Blue Mountain’s charitable giving.
