About

What is MyWeaverville.com?
MyWeaverville.com is a privately-run, online only publication devoted to ongoing and upcoming news and events happening in or about Weaverville, North Carolina.  The focus of this site is promoting local business, local events, local schools, and local organizations to local people.

MyWeaverville.com’s AM. Younger than you expected?Who’s Behind the Curtain?
That would be me, Anne-Marie (aka AM), and yes, that is me in this picture (my mother loves that I’m using it).  I’ve been a Weaverville resident since 2002 and I’ve called Western North Carolina home since I was 6 years old (I actually grew up in nearby Clyde, a town even smaller than Weaverville).  Some of you may know me as one of Blue Mountain Pizza’s 100,000th customers.

Why did you start MyWeaverville.com?
For a few reasons:

  1. Because I truly believe we deserve to be more than just a “surrounding area” of Asheville.
  2. Because it’s nearly impossible to find out everything that’s happening in Weaverville without searching through listing after listing of what’s happening in Asheville, Black Mountain, Waynesville, etc. If I want to go out on a Friday night, I’d like to see what’s happening in Weaverville first.
  3. Because there was no other publication available online devoted to Weaverville.
  4. As yet one more way for Weaverville to promote itself to itself.

Do you work for the Town of Weaverville?
No, MyWeaverville is not affliated, run by or paid for by the Town.

Are you affiliated with the Weaverville Tribune?
No, the Weaverville Tribune and MyWeaverville.com are two separate publications. We are not run by or affiliated with each other, nor do we privately share information or sources.

Do people pay to have announcements or events placed on the website?
No, the only paid advertising is in the right-hand sidebar and the Directory (coming soon).   Contact me to request a media kit.

How do I submit my news and events to MyWeaverville.com?

The Get Listed page has all the information you need to know to submit announcements, calendar items, volunteer opportunities, or website links.

Please note we do not have an editorial/opinion page. If you want to have your opinion on a certain issue published, you can either leave a comment on any published item (see the comment policy below), or you can contact the Weaverville Tribune. It should also be noted that I am not a reporter and will not be covering events. Again, the Tribune is your source for that information.

Comment Policy
Feel free to add your two cents on any of our articles by clicking “Leave a Comment” at the end of any item.  The name and e-mail address fields are required, but you do not even have to use your real name — a nickname, screen name, or even “anonymous” will do.
I reserve the right to edit or disallow comments, just as a newspaper editorial page is selective about the letters it publishes. Comments should add information or in general add to an ongoing debate, remain civil, be free of inappropriate language and avoid personal attacks. Please note comments are moderated to ensure the above rules are followed, but mostly to keep out unwanted spam and unsolicited advertising.  It usually doesn’t take more than one business day for a comment to be published.

Are you going to send me spam?
No, I hate spam so I would never consider sending it myself. Any time you provide any kind of contact information on this site, it is for the express purpose listed only. For example, if you submit your name and e-mail address for one of our contests, you will only hear from me if you’re the winner. That said, if you ever get what you consider to be a spam message from MyWeaverville, PLEASE let me know about it so I can find out why it’s happening. Thanks.

How can I contact you?
The Contact page has that information.
