About
What is MyWeaverville.com?
MyWeaverville.com is a website devoted to what’s happening only in Weaverville, North Carolina. Whether it’s a sale at your favorite store, an arts festival on Main Street, or the latest on development in our town, MyWeaverville.com is here to let you know about it.
Why does Weaverville deserve its own website?
I’d ask just the opposite: why don’t we deserve our own site? We may be small, but there’s a lot going on here.
Who’s Behind the Curtain?
That would be me, Anne-Marie (aka AM). I’ve been a Weaverville resident since 2002 and I’ve called Western North Carolina home since I was 6 years old. Some of you may know me as one of Blue Mountain Pizza’s 100,000th customers.
Why did you start MyWeaverville.com?
For two reasons:
- Because I truly believe we deserve to be more than just a “surrounding area” of Asheville.
- Because it’s nearly impossible to find out everything that’s happening in Weaverville without searching through listing after listing of what’s happening in Asheville, Black Mountain, Waynesville, etc. If I want to go out on a Friday night, I’d like to see what’s happening in Weaverville first.
Do you work for the Town of Weaverville?
No, I work only for myself.
Do people pay to have announcements or events placed on the website?
No, the only paid advertising is in the right-hand sidebar. I think if I charge to have businesses or organizations list their news and events, I’ll only get part of the story. I want to be able to provide you with everything that’s going on in town. If you’re interested in supporting MyWeaverville.com and advertising your business, check out the Advertise page.
Can I advertise my yard sale?
If it’s a fundraising yard sale or a community yard sale at a public place, yes. If it’s your own personal yard sale in your own backyard, not yet. We may do so in the future if there’s enough requests for it, so be sure to drop us a quick email if that’s something you’d like to see.
How do I submit my news and events to MyWeaverville.com?
Submit your information to myweaverville@gmail.com. Be sure it meets the following rules:
- Submitted items must be in or about Weaverville or a Weaverville resident
- Events must be open to the general public
- To be included on the Links Directory, you must have a professional website or a myweaverville.com Business/Event page. Your business must also either be in Weaverville or service the Weaverville area.
- Anything which condones illegal activities, violence, terrorism, or discrimination will not be published
- Anything which is or too closely resembles a pyramid scheme will not be published.
Please note we do not have an editorial/opinion page. If you want to have your opinion on a certain issue published, you can leave a comment on any published item, or you can contact the Weaverville Tribune. It should also be noted that I am not a reporter and will not be covering events. Again, the Tribune is your source for that information.
I love this website! Can I link to it from my own site?
As long as your site isn’t promoting anything illegal, absolutely! Here’s a code snippet you can use:
