Have you ever said or heard someone say that the Old Testament is confusing? What if we told you that you could memorize, in just a few hours, the key characters, places, events and themes of the entire Old Testament? Well you can by attending the Walk Thru the Bible Old Testament Seminar to be held Monday-Wednesday, July 12-14, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church. This fun and innovative seminar will begin at 6 p.m. each night and conclude by 8 p.m. The seminar is $10 and registration is required by Friday, July 9. Easter Sunrise Service April 4

The annual Weaverville Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 7 a.m. in West Memorial Park (on Roberts Street off Hamburg Mountain Road). An offering will be received for North Buncombe Samaritan Ministries. West Funeral Home will match it up to $300.

Friday, December 4 & Saturday, December 5: Adult Choir’s Christmas Musical entitled “Child of Wonder”. Musical will begin at 7:15 p.m.
Sunday, December 6: Adult Choir’s Christmas Musical Matinee of “Child of Wonder” at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 13: The Jammin’ Lambs Children’s Choir will present “The Best Christmas Present Ever” at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, December 17: Christ Love Preschool will present their Christmas Program at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 20: “Bring a Friend Sunday”. Come and enjoy fellowship and light snacks after the worship service.

Hot Dog Saturday Aug. 8
St. Matthews Anglican Church (812 Reems Creek Road
) is hosting a “Hot Dog Saturday” open house event on Saturday, August 8, 2009. It will take place 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. Members of the community can enjoy free hot dogs, drinks, and cookies, meet Fr. Don Sackeet and his family, take a tour of the Church to see what improvements have been made, and hear about future plans.

Easter Sunrise Service April 12
The Weaverville Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held 7 a.m. Sunday, April 12, at West Memorial Park (on Roberts Street off Hamburg Mountain Road). Area pastors will serve as worship leaders and Mission Hospitals’ chaplain Hank Jackson will deliver the Easter message. An offering will be received for North Buncombe Samaritan Ministries, with West Family Funeral Services matching each dollar up to $300.
Cowboy Church Adds Sunday Service
The Land of the Sky Cowboy Church has added a Sunday Service in Weaverville. They now meet at the Weekday Building (119 Monticello Road
) on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Christ United Methodist Church is presenting “Finding the Joy”, the 7th Annual Adult Choir Christmas Musical and dinner on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13. Tickets are required to attend the dinner at 6:30 p.m., while admission is free to attend the Christmas musical at 7:15 p.m. Tickets for the dinner cost $9 per adult and $6 per child (ages 12 and under). Tickets can be purchased by calling the Church Office at 645-5785 during regular office hours (Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Bill Inman at Cowboy Church Sep. 18
Bill Inman is the special guest Thursday, September 18 at the Cowboy Land of the Sky Church (119 Monticello Road
). Inman will “share his stories as he uncovers America from Oregon to North Carolina atop his horse Blackie”.
Cowboy Church is dedicated to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Cowboy and the Cowboy at heart. Whether working here in the mountains, or traveling to rodeos, equestrian events, cowboy action, we go anywhere a cowboy church is welcome. A pot luck dinner and service is held every Thursday at the Weekday Building on the corner of 25/70 and Monticello Road. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., with the service immediately following at 7 p.m.
Kids for Christ After-School Program on Wednesdays
Kids for Christ, an after-school program at the First Baptist Church, begins again on Wednesday:
Who: Children grades 1-6 who attend Weaverville Elementary, Weaverville Primary or North Windy Ridge Schools
Where: First Baptist Church, 63 North Main Street, Weaverville
When: Every Wednesday after school. Ride the bus to 63 North Main Street and we’ll meet you at the front door!
What: Come enjoy snacks, recreation, study hall (tutoring is available), Bible Drill, Children’s Choir, and more! Activities end at 7:15 pm with supper at 5:45 pm (cost $2 – we need your reservations or cancellations by Monday). Children must be picked up at the church at 7:15 pm.
All activities are fully supervised by church staff and volunteers. Parents, a medical information form must be filled out before your child can attend KFC. Please call the church office to receive a form. Also, please send a note to your child’s teacher giving them permission to ride the bus to First Baptist, 63 North Main Street on Wednesdays.

InVision Fellowship June 15
Weaverville First Baptist Church hosts “In Vision”, a team composed of five college students from around the state. The students are a summer mission team sponsored by Student Ministries of the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. This group has auditioned and trained as a performance group in Mime, Drama, Interpretive Movement, and Music. They will participate in the June 15 morning worship at First Baptist and lead a church-wide fellowship at 7 p.m. that evening on the lawn between First Baptist and Weaverville United Methodist Church.
First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School June 16-20
Weaverville First Baptist Church (63 North Main Street) hosts their Vacation Bible School, “Power Lab – Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power” June 16-20 from 6-8:45 p.m. each day. It’s open to children from 3 years old to sixth graders and will feature crafts, music, games, Bible stories and more.
