“Snakes Alive” at Bee & Thistle
Sherrye at Bee & Thistle tells me she has brought in a collection of folk art snakes crafted by famed Madison County folk artist Don Price (1924-2004). I don’t know if folk art snakes are considered a good stocking stuffer, but stop by and take a look. Bee & Thistle is located at 55 North Main Street.
New Doors at Preservation Hall
Preservation Hall has received another shipment of great doors from North East this week, and will have an inventory reduction sale on all doors through the end of the year. They sent photos of a few of the new doors they’ve received, but there’s more to be found at the store.

If you want to check out their new shipment, stop by within the next few days, or you’ll have to wait a week. They will be closed Sunday, November 18 - Monday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Darcy asked me to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving from the Willis family.
Weaverville’s The Green Robin: Helping You Live a Greener Life
Here’s an online Weaverville business I learned about just recently: The Green Robin. The Green Robin is dedicated to “helping you live a greener life”. The site was launched in the Spring, and is owned and operated by Weaverville resident Robin Payne.
According to the website, they offer luxury organic cotton bed and bath linens, organic clothing and toys for baby, organic and all natural personal and baby care items and home cleaning products. Their goal is to provide healthy alternatives to everyday items so you can create a greener life for yourself and your family. Coyuchi, John Masters Organics, and High Desert Naturals are among the organic brand names they carry.
Robin says she will be teaching a Green Living 101 course at A-B Tech in January. Also beginning in the New Year, she will offer Green Home Consulting. This healthy home audit will encompass your entire dwelling; working to detoxify the house, identify potential health hazards, and bring a greener home to life room by room.
Along with the store, class, and consulting, Payne also writes a blog, The Robin’s Nest, which provides organic news and green living tips.
What’s New at Preservation Hall
Preservation Hall has published the Fall edition of their “What’s New” section. A big thanks to them for the mention.
So what is new at Preservation Hall? According to Darcy: another shipment of doors, reduced prices, and a building addition scheduled for the spring. Also of importance: they’ve changed their weekday hours. They’re now open 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Pet Supply Store coming to Weaverville
Weaverville Pet Pantry, a new, locally-owned pet supply store, is opening in Weaverville next month!
The store will carry natural and organic pet foods, homeopathic and herbal remedies, supplies, accessories, toys and gifts. They tell me that although they will not be carrying horse supplies in the store, they will be an authorized dealer for Weaver Leather, an American company which uses American leather to make bridles and other horse supplies, so they’ll be able to special order those items for you. They’ll also accommodate special orders.
Other plans for the store include a community resource reading room, where materials will be available for education about foods and other relevant topics. Future plans for the community room include talks by trainers and vets, pet photography and other special events.
Although they do not have a specific grand opening date scheduled just yet, they plan to be open in time for Thanksgiving, and Irene tells me they have ordered Thanksgiving themed quinoa dog biscuits for the occasion.
Weaverville Pet Pantry will be located at 10 Garrison Branch Road, Suite 3, on the southwest corner of the 25/70-Monticello Road intersection. Owners Irene and Russ invite people and their pets to stop by while they continue to get things in order for their approaching opening day.
