“Take a Stand!” with Matt Mittan will be hosting a Radio Town Hall this Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 3-6 p.m. Congressman Heath Shuler will be live in the News Radio 570 WWNC studios from 3:30-5 p.m. to take live calls from members of the 11th Congressional District on proposed Health Care Reform legislation.The special broadcast will be simulcast LIVE on AM 1400 The Peak, Waysneville, NC as well as 880 The Revolution, Fairview, NC. Listeners can also listen/watch the Town Hall online at www.TakeAStandShow.com.

Free Wi-Fi at the Library
All Buncombe County libraries are now offering free wi-fi for library card holders. I haven’t personally tried it out yet, but I’m told the connection is very slow.

The Mountain at Blue Mountain
105.9 The Mountain made a stop at Blue Mountain Pizza for lunch on Thursday. The rock radio station had $5 tickets for their Birthday Bash at The Orange Peel tonight, plus other prizes. Blue Mountain also offered a $2 lunch special — a slice of pepperoni pizza and a drink — during the live broadcast.
Weaverville-Produced Program Tops in Public Radio
Saw this in today’s Citizen-Times:
A classical music program produced in Weaverville is, for the second year in a row, the most licensed series on the Public Radio Exchange, PRX recently announced.
Compact Discoveries is carried in locally by WPVM 103.5 FM in Asheville, Sundays at 1 p.m. It can also be streamed at www.PRX.org or through www.compactdiscoveries.com.
