Christmas Parade Dec. 5
I know it’s a little early to be talking about Christmas, but I’ve gotten quite a few e-mails lately asking about this year’s Christmas Parade. Here’s what I know so far:
The Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2009, beginning at 1 p.m. It will follow the same route as last year:
- 1 p.m.: Begin at North Main Street-Monticello Road-Dula Springs Road intersection
- Follow Main Street past Weaver Blvd., through downtown Weaverville to Yost Street
- From Yost Street, floats will then turn up Merrimon Avenue to find their way home, but will no longer be in parade formation
If you are interested in being the Parade, entries are already being accepted. To enter, contact Dottie Sherrill at 645-7579. There’s no charge but they’ll take only the first 100 entries.

One other Christmas festivity to note: the Weaverville Business Association will hold the annual Candlelight Stroll on Friday, December 11, 2009, 6-9 p.m. Details are still TBA, but expect street carolers, horse and buggy rides, and Santa to make appearances again this year.
