Animal Communication Workshop May 17

Intuitive Animal Communicator Denise Anthes, RN will hold a Level 1 Animal Communication Workshop 1-5 p.m. at the Weaverville Pet Pantry on Saturday, May 17. Tuition is $60 if you register by May 12, or $75 day of event. Tuition fee includes workbook with extensive bibliography. Registration forms are available at Weaverville Pet Pantry, or you can contact Denise at 275-5949.

Have you ever wondered what your dog is trying to tell you when it sits down patiently and stares at you with those huge eyes?

What caused the sudden outbreak of aggression in your animal family?

What is happening when animals start to soil in the house?

Does your old (or sick) animal want to stay here, or is it time to move on?

These questions can be answered once you learn the simple techniques of communing with animals. They are certain that we are intelligent enough to hear and speak with them. They are just waiting for us to listen!

The Level 1 Class will teach you how to:

  • Create a climate for clear communication
  • Link your mind and heart with animals
  • Initiate two-way communications

Time Change for Pet Vaccination Clinics

Earlier in the year I posted information about the low cost pet vaccination clinics at Tractor Supply on Monticello Road.  The clinics now have a new time slot:  1-4 p.m.  They will still be held the last Saturday of every month this year (except December), with the next clinic this Saturday, March 29.

These clinics are provided by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Division.  Costs are:

  • Rabies shots - $6 per pet
  • Combination shot - $15 per pet (available for cats or dogs)
  • Microchip - $10

To receive a three-year rabies vaccine, you MUST bring the one-year certificate with you. Keep in mind the rabies tag your pet wears around its neck does not include a date and cannot be used to verify prior vaccination. Please make sure to bring restraints for all your pets.

For more information, contact Buncombe County Animal Services at 253-1195.

Dining to Be Kind

If you dined at Sunnyside Cafe on Tuesday, February 26, give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. Animal Compassion Network tells me the restaurant raised over $500 in the Dine To Be Kind fund raiser that day, despite the bad weather. Thanks to Jack, Patti, and all the staff at Sunnyside for opening that evening and participating in the event.

Pet Supply Store coming to Weaverville

Weaverville Pet Pantry, a new, locally-owned pet supply store, is opening in Weaverville next month!

The store will carry natural and organic pet foods, homeopathic and herbal remedies, supplies, accessories, toys and gifts. They tell me that although they will not be carrying horse supplies in the store, they will be an authorized dealer for Weaver Leather, an American company which uses American leather to make bridles and other horse supplies, so they’ll be able to special order those items for you. They’ll also accommodate special orders.

Other plans for the store include a community resource reading room, where materials will be available for education about foods and other relevant topics. Future plans for the community room include talks by trainers and vets, pet photography and other special events.

Although they do not have a specific grand opening date scheduled just yet, they plan to be open in time for Thanksgiving, and Irene tells me they have ordered Thanksgiving themed quinoa dog biscuits for the occasion.

Weaverville Pet Pantry will be located at 10 Garrison Branch Road, Suite 3, on the southwest corner of the 25/70-Monticello Road intersection. Owners Irene and Russ invite people and their pets to stop by while they continue to get things in order for their approaching opening day.
