Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to assist with their 3 routes in Weaverville (they also have a route in Barnardsville). Full-time volunteers deliver meals once every week, and substitute volunteers are called on an as-needed basis to assist with deliveries. The routes usually take 1-2 hours. Volunteers pick up meals at the First Baptist Church on Main Street, deliver the meals along their route, then return the meal cooler back to the church. Brian Center Volunteers
The Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation Center, located behind the Weaverville Plaza on Weaver Blvd., has many opportunities for volunteers. Dates and times are flexible according to your willingness and availability to volunteer. All volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. All pets must have proof of immunization records. To volunteer or for more information, contact Ginger Johnston, Activity/Volunteer Coordinator, at 645-4297 or 713-7493. Here are some of the possible areas of service:
- Activity Assistant
- Party Host
- Sing A Long Leader
- Adopt a Grand Parent program
- Read to the clients
- Arts/Craft Instructor
- Sing or Play musical instruments
- Hand Sewing for garments
- Special friend or visitor
- Placing the American Flag on pole in AM and taking down at sundown
- Transporting clients to and from dining room for meals and activities
- Manicures
- Pet Visits
- Completing Life Review with clients
- End of Life Spiritual support
Weaverville Library Volunteers
The Weaverville Library needs volunteers to help no more than a couple hours one day a week. Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age and are needed to assist with a little bit of everything, from putting books in order to dusting shelves to cutting out stuff for crafts, etc. For information call the Weaverville Library at 250-6482.
Friends of the Weaverville Library Volunteers
Friends of the Weaverville Library needs volunteers to assist with book sales. Volunteers are needed to help with sorting and pricing books throughout the year, as well as working during the book sales. For information call the Weaverville Library at 250-6482.
